Sun Saves a Critter

Each evening, a critter that lives on the hill above the sea, crawls into a pepper tree to watch the sunset. He has many toes and loves to jiggle them in the reflections. Making his own creations with the sun's shine, he waits for the green flash. Then he crawls down to rest for the night.

One day as he eased into the sea, the sun noticed what appeared like a cry from high up the hill.

When the critter crawled into a magnolia tree to watch sunset, he fell on his back and stuck upside down. With each wriggle and waggle, using all his toes, he still could not get free.

"Help me. Help me," he cried but was too high for family and friends to help.

The sun heard the calls and with his rays, directed the critter down, one toe at a time.

Then the sun flashed circles of light to alert everyone of the critter's safety.
